april crazy crafters family blog hop

So this month I the theme is family, our team thought about doing easter but given so many people don't celebrate that in the world we thought we would do families instead.  I'm sure our team will come up with many interpretations of this but mine I decided to make cards for all of my Aunties and my Uncle as I don't get to see any of them nearly enough.  So I hope you like what I made and be sure to leave me a comment on what you think.  I've tried to use a few different techniques in this post so hopefully there is something for everyone.
If you have got here the right way through the hop you should have just left the talented Angelas page, if you have started here that is ok too, just press the next button on the bottom of each blog and it will link you directly to the next blog, also there is a lineup list at the bottom of my post.  Now lets get started :)

This card I made for my Aunty O who also makes cards, so this was a bit of a worry for me that she might not like it.  I used the Swallowtail stamp heat embossed with tempting turquoise, then sponged with melon mambo, daffodil delight and tangerine tango.  The card base I deliberately did in a really pale colour so the butterfly would pop out.  I used very vanilla that I stamped primrose petals on with the Blended Bloom stamp set.  I also stamped the image two additional times on a spare piece of card so I could three dimensionalize one flower for the butterfly to be in.  Now this was my first time of really using the blender pens to colour in images so be kind to me lol, but I really love the effect it gave, it seems to bring the flowers out of the page.  I did the centres of the flowers with so saffron.  I stamped the blank spots on the cards with a stamp from the stippled blossoms set as it needed a little more. then I glued it layered it and dimensioned it and I'm crossing my fingers that she loves it.

This card I made for my Aunty J.  It was made using the stippled blossoms set.  I stamped using rich raspberry and primrose petals for the flowers and old olive with pear pizzaz for the leaves.  It was all done on very vanilla.  I used rich razzleberry card stock as the second layer of the card and also used a little strip of it to put behind the gorgeous sahara sand lace trim.  I embellished with basic rhinestones that I coloured with rich razzleberry so they coordinated better.  She loves gardening so I'm hoping she loves it.

Here is the one I made for my Aunty Y.  She is such an elegant lady and this suits her to a T.  To make this card I cut out the largest butterfly using the butterfly framelits and sponged over it using Primrose Petals ink.  I then stamped the second image using flowering flourishes in pistachio pudding and stamped the sun out of butterfly basics stamp set with daffodil delight.  I stamped the little dots with smoky slate from the same set.  The little butterfly is out of that set too and was stamped using the daffodil delight.  The flowers I made using the simply pressed clay in the flower mould.  I embellished using basic pearls and the sun, the butterfly and the centres of the flowers I used a little smooch spritz in a container, placed on with a scoring tool so I could better control where it was going, and of course the beautiful ribbon is blushing bride 1/4" cotton ribbon with the sahara sand lace trim.
This one is for my Aunty S.  When I think of her I think of a strong powerful woman and she used to be a designer and photographer so i think of beautiful bright colours.  This one is done on whisper white.  I sponged melon mambo direct to the card then put another layer of whisper white card.  I stamped the swallowtail image using versamark and heat embossed using tempting turquoise I then sponged in the colours, using melon mambo daffodil delight and pumpkin pie.  I hope she love this...

This card I made for my Uncle M I used Very Vanilla, Cherry Cobbler and Soft Suede.  I used a few stamp sets in this one one of which is retired (sorry but I love it lol).  I've used French Flair (retired), off the grid, gorgeous grunge and Perpetual Birthday Calender set. I stamped in Soft Suede and Chocolate chip.  I used DSP in coordinating colours, a piece of cardboard that I tore out of a box, some burlap ribbon, chocolate chip bakers twine and the button is from the neutrals collection. i used the sequins from the in color sequin assortment.  The funny shapes are made using the framelits from the secret garden set, I inked them with versamark and heat embossed with the gold embossing powder.  A bit of distressing here and some snail glue there and some tombow over there and voila :). He is such a quiet beautiful man who loves his kids and being in the country, I find it very hard to make cards for men because you can't use 'pretty things' lol.  He will appreciate the thought I'm sure :)
So until next time happy crafting Tam xx
